Bitty baby is a 15 inch baby doll made by Mattel, American Girl Company. She is a soft body doll with a waist of 11 1/2 inches. Her foot is 2 1/4 or 6cm from the heel to the end of the toe. At the widest part her foot is 1 1/4 inches or 3.25 cm wide. This is a very common size doll for generic baby dolls and many of the baby dolls sold in the major stores have these or very similar measurements with maybe very minor differences
Eighteen inch girl dolls such as American girl, Our Generation and My Life dolls are extremely popular dolls and while the height and waist of those dolls differs considerable from the baby dolls, the foot is nearly the same as Bitty Baby. To give an example, the 18 inch American dolls foot is 2 3/8 or 6cm long and at the widest part it measure 1 1/4 inches or 3.25 cm wide. The Our Generation doll which is an 18 inch girl doll sold by Target has a foot length measurement of 2 3/8 or 6cm and is 1 1/4 inches or 3.25 cm at the widest point. Since these 18 inch doll foot measurements are the same or a minor fractional difference, the Bitty Baby shoes are in almost all cases interchangeable between Bitty Baby and 18 inch girl dolls.
Some of these doll shoes close with laces that must be tied, some have traditional buckles ware the strap goes inside the buckle and some have a decorative buckle but the shoes actually close with Velcro which is under the buckle. It is advisable to consider the age and dexterity of the child to see which style closure is most appropriate for the child.
